Open hexagonal lattice I
Acrylic on canvas
1996
30" h x 40" w

I created this design with colored pencils on triangular graph paper, and then transfered it to canvas.  Colors are arranged so that any three sides of a "cube" contain three successive colors in the rainbow, such as red-orange-yellow, or yellow-green-blue.  The intersections where six diamonds meet have all six colors in rainbow order, clockwise.  In addition to the six basic colors used in previous works, this piece incorporates black in the triangular regions to exaggerate the sense of depth.
