Anxiety
Acrylic on canvas
36" h x 36” w
2001
This painting depicts the mathematical interference patterns between two point sources, or overlapping sets of concentric circles. The tension is increased by the use of contrasting colors, and the name of the piece reflects the emotional state of the artist at the time this painting was started.
It took several years to finish, spanning a series of major life changes: getting divorced, quitting a job, starting a company, and buying a convertible (though not necessarily in that order).
