The original name of this piece was "Concentric Circular I." The new name is derived from one possible interpretation of the piece, in which the center of each circle represents a person. Then, regions of color, bounded by pieces of intersecting circles, are symbolic of interactions between neighboring bodies.

This pattern was constructed from overlapping concentric circles.  To obtain more variety in the shapes in the pattern, some of the adjacent regions were merged and painted with the same color.  This piece uses the six basic hues of the color wheel, plus intermediates such as yellow-green, blue-green, and magenta.
