Circles III
Acrylic on canvas
24" x 24"
2004
This piece began as a series of pencil lines drawn with a compass, and the regions defined by the intersecting circles were painted one color at a time. The colors are arranged to preserve horizontal and/or vertical symmetry in the design.
When possible, highly contrasting pairs of colors are used in adjacent regions, such as purple/yellow, red/green, and blue/orange.
