Janet Hansen artist

Random Triangular I

Acrylic on canvas
24" h x 20" w

1994

The triangular networks in many of Janet's paintings, including this one, are derived from her graduate research in computational techniques for mesh generation.  These outlines satisfy the mathematical definition of a Delaunay triangulation.

The triangles are filled in with the six basic hues of the color wheel: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple, and no two adjacent triangles are painted the same color.
