The front panel of this work is made from discarded and obsolete printed circuit boards (PCBs) soldered together with resistors and other electronic components. The PCBs are treated as a structural materials to define a series of shapes, and are not electrically functional in this design.
The sides of this round piece have RGB LED pixels aimed inwards, lighting up a white backplane that can be seen through gaps in the front panel.
When it is first powered up, the piece will run a slow cycle through rainbow colors, with all of the pixels changing at once. Alternate modes can be selected with the small mode switch on the back of the frame. The second mode is a rotating rainbow, and other modes offer a variety of single color glowing options (aqua, red, yellow, green, blue, and purple).
