San Diego Airport Exhibit 2025
Janet Hansen was one of 16 artists selected for the Mirror Mirror exhibition at the San Diego International Airport, which has a theme inspired by the legacy of the 1960s Southern California Light and Space movement.
This set of three pieces, entitled Kaleidoscopic Comfort, was created specifically for this location and this exhibition. Additional details for the individual pieces are available on these pages: Kaleidoscopic Comfort 1, Kaleidoscopic Comfort 2, and Kaleidoscopic Comfort 3.
They are all illuminated with RGB LEDs that are covered with a variety of textile-based diffusing elements. The lights pulse and change in multi-color geometric patterns which are also sound reactive.
To help demonstrate the sound-reactive behavior, they are being presented with custom music created by Spivey & Copperfield.
The pieces were installed in February 2025 and are expected to be on display for at least one year.
